Erika Lenz is a is a Senior Agile coach, facilitator, and trainer with nearly a decade of experience helping organizations on their improvement journey with Lean and Agile. Her professional experience extends beyond software, including biology and behavioral research, marketing, instructional design, print and digital journalism, retail management, and interactive education in science and math. This breadth allows her to more effectively engage with people in myriad disciplines and to understand cross-functional system interactions. Her passion lies in helping people use visual management techniques and facilitative listening to improve communication, collaboration, and innovation across the organization.
Erika has extensive experience in agile software development, having transitioned to Agile practices after starting her career as a traditional “waterfall” project manager. She has worked in multiple verticals, including health care systems, banking, insurance, data analytics, retail grocery, banking, and higher education (student success via digital). Her experience includes coaching agile transformations using Scrum, Kanban, Lean, DevOps, Extreme Programming, UX/UI/UCD, and SAFe practices on distributed and international projects.
Erika is a Certified Agile Coach (ICP-ACC), Certified Agile Facilitator (ICP-ATF), Certified LeSS Practitioner, Certified SAFe® 4 Program Consultant, Certified Scrum Professional (CSP-SM and CSP-PO), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), and Professional Scrum Master (PSM-1). She speaks regularly at conferences and podcasts on topics like conflict resolution, facilitating change, coaching, and value-stream mapping. She served as co-chair of the Mile High Agile conference.
When not coaching, Erika’s favorite pastime is swing dancing, in particular Lindy Hop and Balboa.
