COVID-19 – Class Will be Virtual
Based on recommendations from the government and CDC, to help stop the spread of COVID-19 (otherwise known as coronavirus), Agile Velocity will be delivering this class online. We will contact each registrant prior to class with more information. At a minimum, we recommend a computer, camera, speakers, microphone and of course, a stable internet connection.
Certified ScrumMaster Workshop
Our CSM Training prepares leaders, makers, and anyone in between to guide, sponsor, and participate in Agile/Scrum initiatives. At the end of the 2-day CSM class, participants will have gained knowledge of Agile product development, all of the elements of the Scrum framework, and the knowledge necessary to take the certification exam from Scrum Alliance.
Earning your certification is a good step towards understanding Agile and becoming a change agent. Our Certified ScrumMaster class welcomes both beginners whose first day in class is their first day in Agile and veteran Agilists who are looking for ways to get better. Project managers, tech leaders, even people who are not involved in software development have all found value in our certified ScrumMaster workshop.

As a ScrumMaster you not only need to help your team improve their processes but you also need to encourage them to improve their technical practices. In this module we will help you understand how supporting Agile technical practices may help your team improve their overall agility.
Path to Agility
Where does the CSM fit into your overall Agile transformation? If an organization wants to create lasting agility, what needs to happen after training? Our Path to Agility is an Agile Transformation framework that helps organizations understand the entire journey and what it takes to go through the different phases of Align, Learn, Predict, Accelerate, and Adapt.

CSM or CSPO? Which Scrum Certification Should I get?
Take the CSPO if you wish to:

Earning Your CSM Certification
At the end of the two days, our CST will submit the names of qualified participants to Scrum Alliance and Scrum Alliance will send a link to take the test.
Exam retake policy and associated fees
To pass the Scrum Alliance CSM exam, you need to get 74% of the questions correct. There are 50 questions and you will have 60 minutes to take the exam. Participants will have two attempts within 90 days of receiving the welcome email from Scrum Alliance at no cost. After two attempts or 90 calendar days, the test is $25 for each retake. The exam is an open book, open note test.
Sample CSM exam questions
The Development Team does not sit together and therefore rarely communicates. Due to this arrangement, they tend to segue into deep technical discussions when sharing at the Daily Scrum. What should the ScrumMaster do?
- Discuss at the next retrospective for the team to determine how best to address the issue
- Assign a technical lead to work with all the developers individually on their issues
- Extend the Daily Scrum to 60 minutes
- Schedule an additional meeting for technical discussions at another time
The Sprint Burndown Chart can be BEST described as:
- An indicator of how much time each member is spending on each task
- An indicator of how the Team is progressing towards their Sprint Goals
- A tool to track scope changes in the Sprint
- A tool to manage what the Team is doing each day
What is a good indicator that the Sprint Retrospective was productive?
- Team identified 1-3 actionable items to implement during the next Sprint
- Team discussed what worked well and what could be improved upon
- Team reviewed metrics from the previous Sprint (burndown chart, velocity, etc.)
- Team discussed all of the impediments that were surfaced in the previous Sprint

Brian Milner, Certified Scrum Trainer® (CST)
Brian Milner is a Senior Agile Trainer that brings over 20 years of software development experience to his classes. Over half that time Brian spent working exclusively with organizations as they transitioned to Agile practices. Beginning as a developer, he worked up through management layers and eventually transitioned to life as a Scrum Master and then as a Coach. Having been in both Waterfall and Agile organizations, Brian brings the practical experience of having seen what works and what doesn’t in the real world.
Brian is a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Scrum Professional – ScrumMaster (CSP-SM), Certified Scrum Professional – Product Owner (CSP-PO) and holds his Certified Agile Leader Credential (CAL-1). Brian is also a Certified Trainer for Sharon Bowman’s Training from the Back of the Room presentation skills course.

What’s the refund policy?
You may cancel up to 10 days prior to the class and receive a 90% refund or transfer to a future date. No refunds will be provided within 10 days of the class. However, you can switch to another class based on availability. We cannot guarantee a transfer without penalty if the notice falls outside our 10-day policy.
I have dietary restrictions. What should I do?
We will make every effort to accommodate most dietary restrictions, depending on the venue’s capabilities. Please make sure to make a note on your order to let us know ahead of time. You are also welcome to bring your own breakfast/lunch if you do not want to eat what is provided.
How do I prepare for class?
